Damson II - The Revenge of Damson has extracted its revenge on me. This project (my second Damson) is compltely and utterly FUBAR. (Which is my favorite acronym of all time. Stands for F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition)
Anyhoo, my stitch count is off, my stitches are off, the entire project is off, and it's making me feel like crap.
So I put it down. Again. I think I might end up frogging the entire effin thing and just starting over again. It's really pissing me off.
What do you do in this situation, Virginia? Why, I immediately dive into another project!
This time I am making Villane by the lovely Suvi Simola. She blogs here at 50 Villapeikkoa and does absolutely amazing stuff.
And, for the one picture (absolutely not knitting related) in this post today, I give you a little shot of my neighborhood:
You know, just in case there was any doubt about what this store is selling (you know, aside from the fact that the window is full of butt bosting devices on mannequins) they had to put it on a gigantic red awning right out front.
I think it's subtle.
the other red awning (just out of frame) ends in ANT--i am guessing restaurant--it used to be (still is?) H & H--it was one of the nicer (but still not expensive) places in the area--and reserved for special dates--and the butt boosting place was a stationary store--that carried every color of crepe paper! Oh the paper flowers!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a single unchanged store on Fordham--except the movie theaters! and Sears--and everything looks so different--(No more Third Avenue El (that at Fordham Plaza (now a parking lot!) moved to Webster Avenue and continued north.
(thanks for the trip down memory lane!)
OMG!!! I would LOVE to sit outside that store and just photograph 1)the people going inside to check out the goods! and 2)the people just looking at the awning and laughing!!!
ReplyDeleteSo seriously funny!
*snerk*
ReplyDeleteWow. And all I got is a blue cow!
Cool shot! And I am so sorry for your Damson :-)
ReplyDeleteThat Villane looks ambitious! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteI never realized there was such a large market out there for women who needed their butts boosted.
OfTroy: Nowadays, the restaurant on the corner of Fordham and Decatur is sort of a down-at-the-heels diner. The theaters have been torn down or converted to stores, with the exception of the Paradise, which hosts Latin music concerts and prizefights. On the bright side, one of the best Dominican bakeries in the city is located next door!
ReplyDeleteSubtle, real subtle. Though I have a feeling that with my complete lack of subtlety were I to own a similar business I would come up with the same style and call it good.
ReplyDeleteI love the acronym, never heard it before, but sounds great and very usable sometimes here too!
