Vacation Knitting Booty

I did a little (but not much) shopping during the vacation.

In Roanoke, VA, we went to an awesome used bookstore in the Grandin Road area, Too Many Books, and I found the following, which are very exciting:

Unexpected Knitting by Debbie New

Lucy Neatby's Cool Socks Warm Feet

At the Mosaic Yarn Shop in Blacksburg, VA, I picked up this yarn, which is awesome. It's spun at a new mill (!?!) near Pearisburg, VA, which is where Bruce and I were legally married (we had our ceremony in Stuart, VA, a few hours south). The yarn is from Back Country Ranch, and it is unbelievably soft and squishy. I also love that it has the photos of the alpacas that the yarn came from on the front of the label. I may be keeping this ball band:

Finally, my completed, but as yet unblocked Breezy Cardigan. I'll be blocking it in the next few hours and will post modeled pictures later on.

  1. Nice buy :-) I think your Breezy will earn on a modeled shot :-) but congrats on finishing!
Thanks for all your comments today, a big job to catching up :-) I have used no peticilar filter... A totally ruined photo, much too dark, has been corrected in shadows and lightning, contrast, then I used some healing tool on the background to get rid of a plank, added a bit blue and some other colors that I can't remember, and a whole lot other changes that I can't remember :-) And I made a piece of art out of it lol.

  2. Great books! I've copied ( looked at, and devised my own versions) Lucy Neatby's sock book--and Unexpected knitting? the BEST knitting book in the world for free range knitters. What ideas, I've done some (a swirl purse, the "tam sweatter")
and plan to do more..what a book!

    (nice yarn and FO's too!)

  5. OMG, you were seriously like a block away from me at Too Many Books! I live in Grandin!

I never thought to check them for knitting books. I don't know why but that thought just never occurred to me. I'll have to go check it out unless you cleared out the good stuff.:)

There's a new yarn shop that just opened in Roanoke this week. That makes two now. I've been meaning to go to Mosaic down in Blacksburg but usually if I'm down that way it's either for football or beer drinking. We're heading down later this month so maybe I can finagle a stop. Did they have a good selection?

Also I can't wait to see the breezy in action.
